Kiev [Ukraine] / Moscow [Russia], August 2: A Russian ship has been sunk in the Sea of Azov following a Ukrainian attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday. Zelensky wrote on Telegram about attacks in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. He gave details about one vessel, which he said had a loading capacity of 100,000 metric tons, was sailing under a Russian flag and had sunk "thanks to the precision" of Ukrainian forces.
Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom confirmed the sinking of the ship.
It said the vessel belonged to the logistics company FESCO, which is subject to EU sanctions and is itself owned by Rosatom. The ship was attacked by two drones more than 200 kilometres from the port city Novorossiysk, it said. (DPA)
