Tehran [Iran], April 7: Iran will allow ships from some friendly nations to pass through the Strait of Hormuz in return for security fees, Iranian officials told Al Jazeera. Ali Hashem, an Al Jazeera reporter in Tehran, said, "Iran intends to obtain war compensation through these fees and will respond forcefully to targeting of Mahshahr [port and oil export] facilities and seek compensation".
Based on a decision by top state institutions, Iran intends to obtain war compensation through these fees, the official has said, adding that several Indian, Pakistani, Turkish, and French ships have already received passage permits.
The Iranian embassy in Malaysia said the first ship from the Southeast Asian country has passed through the critical waterway since the war began.
"We had said that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not forget his friends," the embassy wrote in a social media post.
