Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) May 22: Atletico Madrid central defender Felipe Monteiro has been drafted into Brazil's squad for World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay, the Brazilian Football Confederation said on Friday.
The 32-year-old replaces Benfica's Lucas Verissimo, who suffered a leg injury in his team's 3-1 win at Vitoria SC in Portugal's PrimeiraLiga on Wednesday.
Felipe has been capped twice for Brazil, having made his international debut in a 5-0 friendly win over El Salvador in September 2018.
Brazil will play Ecuador in Porto Alegre on June 4 and Paraguay in Asuncion four days later.
The five-time world champions currently lead the South American zone's 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying standings with four wins from as many matches.
